If installed correctly, I don't think the Microsoft USB Audio 2.0 driver sounds any worse at all, but it does convert everything to DSD (aka PCM 32/352.8) while the Chord driver plays DSD as DoP (64 or 128, it used to do 256 also but not with the current setup). But you can always go back and redo the Driver Update process at any time and chose the other one, which will then become the default. ![]() the driver you selected with Device Manager. Please note that only one choice is available at a time, i.e. If you've chosen the Microsoft driver it is named simply "Mojo" and the Chord driver is listed as "Chord Async USB 44.1kHz-768kHz". Also give Universal Serial Bus controllers a look, but most likely you would NOT find anything that you need to remove there. I use (mostly) J River Media Center, the Output Devices are listed under Options and may require additional configuration to sound their best. To remove the sound cards / controllers, where you should be provided an option (checkbox) to uninstall the corresponding driver, you should go to Sound, video and game controllers. When all is said and done, both drivers should be available on your player software's list of output devices. See attached screenshot for more details. For the Composite device you should chose HD Audio Device, and for the Chord device you can choose either the driver you downloaded from the Chord website, or Microsoft -> USB Audio 2.0. If no good choices are seen, uncheck the Show Only Compatible Devices checkbox. (the Chord will only show if plugged in and powered up or clicked on Show Hidden Devices at the top). Scroll down to Sound, Video and Game Controllers, open it and įind the Chord Async USB 44.1kHz-768kHz and right-click on it You cannot install drivers by looking up items in folders.
